When we decided that we wanted to build, we began looking at House & Land Packages. There were a lot out there, but unfortunately all the houses that we did like, were in suburbs which we weren't wanting to live in. So we decided to buy land separately and finding the perfect block of land was actually harder than we originally thought.
Finding something that was within our budget, in the right suburb and something with the right size. We looked online on realestate.com.au and looked around driving around different suburbs. Then we heard of the idea of looking for land in a development. There were a few around the Southern & Northern suburbs, but we found one developement, Nottage Rise with a 520sq/m block which was within our budget. After putting it off for a little too long, the big block became unavailable, so we looked at something smaller as we also figured that a larger block would be harder to maintain backyard wise. We did find a 340sq/m block, which was very much so within our budget, which we put on hold straight away, before we missed out on that one too!
It worked out and we ended up purchasing the land within a week of putting it on hold. The next thing to do, was to look at houses to build on the block that we just bought.
